I am curious to what the base has to say about this series. I wan't to try for the 5th time to give this series a chance but I still don't know what is awesome about it. Alot of people say they like it and that its a good series. But what makes it that? Anyone care to enlighten me on this??

What character development?
OT: Diversity of characters, world building, the adventure, realism (though it has many extremes) and a pretty good plot

- Expansive Universe and interesting concepts (Skypeia, Impel Down Prison..) List goes on.
- Intense fighting.
- Humorous.
- Amazing storyline and arcs, the build up is always good.
- Well written characters.

character development means became powerfull after every single battle and i agree story is pretty big
How does the plot tie in with the reader and what keeps you interested in it? how does it relate to you? Just curious is all to decide whether or not to take up this manga

If you're trying for a 5th time you clearly haven't gone very far. Read the Manga. It's MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCH better than the Anime!
I like it because:
-The variation of powers, fights etc. means it is never the same old thing over and over again
-There are so many badasses
-The plot is incredibly intricate, well developed and well sustained plot from any Manga I've read (and I've read A LOT)
-Character development is incredible
-Random Powerups not included
-Oda is the foreshadowing master
-The fights have great choreography
-The art is very fun to look at!
-One Piece taught me many lessons while growing up about friendship and family
-Nothing is ever obvious
-Due to the latter this makes every plot twist and sudden introduction incredible
-We're along for the entire ride
-There's always that sense of adventure that other Manga lack. I've only ever felt it with One Piece and HxH
-Monkey D. Luffy is a much better main protagonist than any other
-The names aren't boring regular Japanese names
-Oda had sparked my interest in folklore and mythology as he uses it a lot
-The villains are just incredible! Doflamingo, Blackbeard, Sakazuki, Crocodile, Rob Lucci... These are just a handful of the many epic villains in the Manga
-Expansive universe full of diversity
-Most importantly of all it's hilarious!

Lol i will keep that in mind. So then it's a simple manga to keep up with?
Diversity of characters has my interest, so there isn't just the norm of characters who appear all the time i.e. naruto and sasuke and the realism this intrigues me please explain more
I will look into these concepts and it being humorous is giving way to me wanting to read it, from your opinion should i start off just reading the manga or go into the anime?
So the arcs are filler based until the end?

Arguably, theres build-up but it drags on, The first few seasons are hard to get into until the Arlong Park, but then after that it slows down til Enies Lobby.
