Well if you don't like it that's your thing but this was actually a very poor analysis of the manga
it's one thing to personally think it's bad but if you wan't to go into a debate about i you need to present some solid arguments
I try to stick with One Piece but it's really tedious and monotonous, I have to admit once they fight it's really badass as hell, but besides the fights and comedy it's really monotonous, I mean when Luffy fights he keeps repeating himself "I'm absolutely gonna kick your ass", "your ass is gonna get kicked" and that kind of stuff.
this right here shows that you're not in it for the story which, together with the characters, is the main point of One Piece, it's not a battle manga it's an adventure manga. and the word monotonous is very vague, i would need more information but as every arc of OP is unique and could stand as a story of it's own if you removed the ties that bring the arcs together it's hard to call it monotonous, in fact it's by definition the opposite of monotonous
The art style really sucks in my opinion, though I got used to it, but sometimes I can't hold my laugh when I see new introduced characters. (Zoro, Law, Luffy, Shanks and the Admirals all well made)
the quality of the art style isn't subjective, only the appeal of the art is
The villians keep getting back, I mean did Luffy actually kill anyone? It's like Oda is too lazy to make new villians so he just throws them back in the story.
most stories don't endlessly cycle out characters, in fact if you want to write a singular story that is interconnected you in fact HAVE TO re-use characters
Something that really works on my nerves are the arcs with over 70 episodes, no problem if there actually happened anything but like 95% is talk and when they're about to fight they spring to another story line.
the longest arc in teh anime is FI with 51 episodes, the longest arc in teh manga is Skypiea with 66 chapters, and again, OP is based on the story, the characters and the journey, fights are just a byproduct of that
we can have 2 situations:
- Luffy is still not strong enough to take on strong Warlords (Mihawk and Doffy) and Admirals, the story has no point then.
- Luffy is strong enough to take on strong Warlords and Admirals. As example he destroys Doffy which automatically reveals what will happen in the next 5-7 years episodes.
- why would the story have no point? why would he need to be strong enough to take on an admiral? it's not about power levels it's about the journey to the end, the story of the world of OP
- ok say Luffy is strong enough to beat Doffy (who isn't even in the top 20 btw) please tell me what will happen int he next 10 years of OP
you know I used to be on the debate team, I respect the opinion of the opposition if they bring grounded arguments, one of the frequent dilemmas is for example euthanasia, we argued, we disagreed and than we shook hands
privately you can have any opinion you want and ofc you can express it publicly, but you also have to realize that if you want to start a public discussion you better bring solid arguments which these aren't
I know you have an opinion and it's your opinion and I don't care if you think that way, but contrary to some of the above posts I don't have to respect it, if you think that's a bad thing that's not my problem but I think that on the internet ppl go so far out of their way to explicitly show they ''respect all opinions'' it's become ridiculous, and it's stupid
there is a difference between an opinion backed by solid arguments and just an opinion
I would respect an opinion with solid argumentation behind it but this thread is more alike to someone simply saying homosexuality is wrong just because it is, and I don't have to respect that
sorry might have gone a little off topic but I think that the extent of bullsh?? you have to post to gain credibility on the web is just stupid, everyone starts their opinions with ''I respect your opinion'', nothing wrong with respecting eachothers opinions but it is impossible to respect someones opinion if they don't explain the reasons behind their way of thinking, and if you think those reasons aren't solid it is in fact impossible to respect that opinion
and it should also be noted that not respecting something does not equal dislike, or disrespect or even hate, it simply means indifference
