Because she and Sakura are the main girls focused on and I'd rather have a compassion ant sweet girl as my fav then a girl who hits people with the strength of a meteor for no real reason as my fav

I never liked her. I didn't like her quietness. It was cute though how she would follow naruto around and observe his lonely life and his perseverance. I actually would like Sakura better for Naruto but it would also be cool if Naruto's kids has byakugan

She is a nice character, very sweet. She has a lot of potential to be strong, but sadly like with many females in Naruto she is boy driven in my opinion. Its cool she has the byakugan.

At the same time though, her development drives me crazy being centered around a dude. She would be a totally badass female if she was just as concerned with her role in her clan as she was getting with Naruto. I know Sakura's development for the longest time wasn't much better, but at least she seeked acknowledgement from Sasuke and not just romance. She wants to be useful and is trying to be, despite being very outclassed sadly by her teammates. Hinata isn't outclassed, honestly i would find her equally on par with her teammates or maybe even better.

As far as the manga goes, she is the first and so far only female to like naruto for who he is. Not becuase what he can do for her, she likes his personality, and i guess his mannerisms as well, she is always truthful with him, and never puts him down, she understands him, and has made the conscious decision to stay by his side. Hinata is kind, and hard worker, she is soft spoken but not weak. She aisde from sasuke vs haku, to try and protect naruto from literally imminent death (that i can think of).

Oh and another thing.

She is not trying to be a character she is not. She is just a secondary character, with little relevance to the main plot and thus she is given appropriate screen time. Even if someone would not like her, I dont see how you could hate her. I mean, her influence on the plot makes her as harmful as a crippled puppy.

Sakura on the other hand...

Thats actually more true for Hinata than Sakura (excluding Sasuke part). Rewatch chunnin exam fights. And rethink what you saw.

Hinata wanted Naruto's acknowledgment ..... She just happened to fall in love with him along the way.
