[Discussion] Why do yonko not care about One Piece?

Whitebeard - Wanted family more than anything. Even refused Roger's proposition to tell him where One Piece is
Shanks - Should know where the one piece is. Yet doesn't try to get it for some reason.
Kaido - Just looks for a place to die

They reign in the new world and are probably the closest pirates to the One Piece, yet they don't seem to care about it when other pirates try to surpass them and discover the tresor

Why did Oda decided to make major antagonists like yonko not caring about one piece?

It makes Luffy's ambition really odd if you ask me, to surpass guys who don't even care about what you're trying to look for

Maybe it will turn out they act as guardians as one of the final phases to reaching it. Think about it, they're 4 of the biggest pirates, they live being pirates, if someone found One Piece that may effectively end the age of pirates. So to ensure it's growth maybe the Yonko actively try to keep people away from OP by using their clout and reputation to stop people from venturing too close to OP.
