Personally I believe that most of us, if not all of us on the base will not and do no reach our maximum mental potential of it. This whole thread could also count as a "how to get smarter thread" because It is suggesting ideas on why we are not reaching our maximum potential so if you avoid or counter these things and the suggestions are true, you would probably become smarter.
You may or may not have the same opinion on this, whether you agree or disagree with my statement, I would love to to find out the reason for it with some backup.I do not want this thread to just be replies on my idea but I am very interested in how you think on this topic and take into consideration that just because I say something does not make it right or wrong so do not be dis encouraged to give your ideas.
One reason why I believe most of us do not reach our maximum mental potential is because of entertainment and duties such as work or school. You and I have access to the internet, phones,tv,magazines and more and as soon as we finish our duties at work or at school we seek entertainment so that we can feel that buzz or so that we do not feel boredom strike our mind. As simple as it sounds one thing I have noticed is that we or at least I do not "thoroughly think" enough. This reason connects directly to the next one. My idea is not that his is solely what would get you closer to your maximum potential but this is ONE of the things. What is "thoroughly thinking"? I mean are we not thinking right now?
Thorough thinking is when you really put your mind on a task or an idea that has many dimensions to it or "layers". What I mean dimensions is that as soon as you believe you got the answer to something while thinking of a question, an additional question pops up which is then followed by another one which not sets an infinite loop but a pattern long enough to make your mind perform at it's current peak condition.I believe the more you thoroughly think the smarter you will get or at least the closer you will get to your maximum potential. The reason for this is because you become more efficient at thinking. Compare the current you to yourself four years back from today, you probably give credence to the statement that you are smarter or mentally superior to that time. The most probably reason is because you became more efficient and improved at answering and thinking, improved at it but you most likely did not improve as much as you could have. This links to the second reason which is that we do not ask enough questions. I have noted my life and you will probably congruous that you share a similar structure , I get up, I go to work/school, I talk to people, complete the tasks, come home and go on my pc and play games or watch things. Throughout the day my mind is being occupied with people, games, tests or work duties. I ask questions but not questions that are more complex than "what am i going to eat", I do not ask enough questions about life or questions about why things happen or how we could solve great issues. The questions do not have to be of greatest complexity but they need to make you think. If someone makes a statement do not just accept it,think for yourself on if it is true, this ensures that no one in our lives pulls anything over us and it makes us overall more conscious. What I mean by is that you can drift through days sometimes where everything is fast and a blur, this is because we are not feeling "alive" or conscious enough. However, think about that feeling you get when you are trying to catch someone out in a lie and you put all your mental power and focus in it, you feel more in touch with everything... more conscious.Do you see the pattern? Do you see the structure? We are living mainly for entertainment, it is just like the saying goes "living for the weekend".This is a reference to why we work or learn, it's so we can have enough money obviously to survive but to also be entertainment, but It seems that too much entertainment is trapping our minds in a cage like animals.
The third reason is that we do not share our ideas. Sometimes when I want to "thoroughly think" I know not what to think about, so I go online and look at ideas, questions and/or theories. At times you can think all you want and ask questions all you want but you hit an impregnable barrier where you can not answer it because you are not experienced enough or you just do not know how do go about things, this is why we need to share ideas so that we become less ignorant to things. Often I am amazed at the simple things you guys write that make a lot of sense. I understand it as soon as I read it and wonder how i did not think about it. There are people smarter than me and I acknowledge this, but I try my best to learn from them and become smarter myself so I can see the world at the level they can, as your mind gets closer to 0% ignorance the more in peace you generally attain.
In conclusion: Our minds are being occupied by entertainment, work and simple things like our next meal therefore we do not get to train our minds to think deeper therefore we do not become as good as we can at it and will not reach out maximum potential. If you practice throwing a ball, you will eventually get better at it, if you practice thorough thinking you will eventually get better at asking and answering questions. Furthermore the more questions we ask the more conscious we feel or become, this also trains our rational thinking in the end coming closer to our maximum mental potential. The last point is that we need to share our ideas and theories more because this sparks up new thoughts and it helps us break that wall we sometimes get when we do not know the answer to something.Getting closer to our maximum mental potential makes our lives a lot better, it ensures that we make more money,we are happy and that we do not get tricked by others as much. To put it in simpler terms just think if you were smarter, your life would be easier and better most probably as you could do more and quicker.Just think about how often you thoroughly think, it probably is not as much as you play games or are on Narutobase. When is the last time you sat down for the sake of sitting down and thinking not because you had nothing to do or you were forced to?Our mind is always with us, If it's so important then why not improve it? Why not let it run wild? If all of this is so obvious why are we carrying on with our daily actions?
Please inform me on if you agree or disagree with my statement and why. Lastly tell me if you have any other reasons that could be holding us back!
