Something that has been troubling me since I been seeing one too many posts complaining about the "animation quality" with no legitimate statements on why they think it so.
It's mind boggling to a great degree, considering I tend to see things from the animator's standpoint in how they would do their work consistent which would make sense.
Excluding the unavoidable fillers, the animation is actually pretty decent since it reflects more on the animators trying to stay consistent with Kishimoto's style while trying to make sure it doesn't take too much time due to consistency of an anime weekly series. This is tremendously hard since you're on a tight time limit, which isn't normally present with OVA's and such, but I will get on that later.
Emulating manga to anime is never easy with particularly Japanese animation, especially when you try to add special details and frames to give it new feels and attempt to recreate particular fight scenes(some which won't translate well into moving pictures). Normally it would result in adding some additional frames such as explosions, character cuts , certain poses and lastly additional extra scenes while simultaneously staying true to the original manga creator's style. These are things that normally go under-appreciated and unseen, or easily forgotten.
The one time you can honestly bash the animation in this series was particularly during the Pain Invasion Arc, a prime example of the specific animators(who I still believe were smoking up something very heinous that day) completely went off track in terms of animation quality that was easily visible and a lot of things that didn't equal it's manga counterpart. Prime examples would be these particular bits.
This entire episode is worthy of bashing, due to how terrible it was in attempting to recreate what was shown in the manga counterpart and failed to properly frame the effects it would have.
Everything else in the series was spot on, and also the recent anime episode that came out since it essentially helped in broadening on what conspired in more details than what it did with the manga, my personal favorite scene being that when Madara lost his composure during his fight with Hashirama and his usage of Susano.
The original fight scene between Madara and Hashirama was only one panel .... ONE SINGLE PANEL in the manga.
While the animation counterpart gave us more precise details on the fight and Hashirama's counters.
Manga interpretation of the fight:
Anime Interpenetration:
So yeah, never complain about the anime unless it's something legitimate, it's really a troublesome process to emulate a manga artist while still staying consistently true to the series's quality. Also to add as a final word, you're all watching it for free through either this site or somewhere else so your complaint in general is nullified by that.
The quality is also better when you pay directly for a complete animation with no halt, and that is normally present in either anime scenes in video games, or particular the OVA's.
