Why do people use naruto wiki as a source?

What is un-reliable about Narutowiki? What in the hell do you think they base their information off of? It is pretty reliable if you do not have the time to scour through the manga. It is not like they made that site wanting it to be wrong. They try their best to keep it accurate and up to date. All of you who say "wiki is for idiots" guess what? Who is the idiot who speds 1 hour trying to find one manga reference?

Exactly. While in some instances there might be a biased fan writing something, it's hardly un-reliable. Even then you will obviously know if it's false or not :|.

Well anime wikis are pretty reliable since they site sources and have feats to back up what they're saying its much better than the data book which is like 5 years old...

Ain't nobody got time to dig through manga chapters for a specific information.
Though wiki is not always accurate, it's an easy way to find manga informations/databook.
I only use wiki when something is already obvious, but do present mangafacts when I wan't to show the specifics.

I clearly was talking about if you did not use Narutowiki at all, meaning no links or references; just you searching for the manga image you want by your own knowledge. Flipping page after page. If anyone on here can complete a debate in three days without using Narutowiki at all, meaning the references on Narutowiki too since they might be "unreliable", they have memorized the manga page for page.

Seriously everyone in debates likes to use "but the naruto wiki sez dis" when they are talking about something that the manga doesn't state like are these regular people supposed to have secret knowledge kishi confided in them that he didnt put in the manga

What's wrong with wiki? Its pretty credible compared to all the theories being used as facts here(yata=bubble protection, kakazu faster than kakashi etc.) Everything on that website is sited. If u look in the index it shows u what chapter/page/episode(if it came out as an episode/anime only)/databook the contents of the page come from. If anything u should use it to find where techniques are used in the manga. Saves time.

Only problem would be the mixing of anime only content with manga content, but even in that case it usually says "in the anime" or "(anime only)"

Sure the wiki has public posting, but you cannot simply add things to the site instantly. Its ran, governed, and approved by those who simply read the manga for what it is.
I cannot go on there and say Orochimaru is actually a female because of that one time he stole a girl's face way back when.
Wikia's like this one dont work that way.
Besides the unbiased plethora of the information, they back it up with both resources from the manga, other publications from kishi, and research to other sources (like for mythical beasts, dieties etc.)
simply saying it is a wiki therefore it is unreliable is silly, however I do see where you are coming from. People can make mistakes, but it is not past narutowiki to update asap and adapt as the manga moves along.

Or cause we don't have the freetime to search through 500+ chapters of a manga to find 1 quote.

I sure as hell know I don't, which is why I have pretty much all chapters from 500-Current on my iPod. I've never used NWiki as a source, but it seems pretty accurate.
