Why do people treat all rasengan variants as the same jutsu?

Okay bro but what youre talking about was before naruto got 8 tailed beasts to add variety to his rasengan. Before rasengan only had wind or it could become bigger.

Even then, the rasenshuriken still had the effect of cellular destruction. The planetary rasengan could still literally tear an opponent's body apart. Base rasengan still grinds opponents in a concentrated area.

Either way, they were still very different jutsus with a variety of ranges and effects.

[Or are you saying that if you were forced to suffer either a base rasengan or a rasenshuriken, that it wouldn't matter to you which one you got because they are both the same? (Despite the fact that you could potentially survive a base rasengan, but a rasenshuriken would surely kill you)?]

Totally agree with the OP. I had a debate once with one fellow online.

I said Naruto has more variations of Rasegan then Goku has of Kamahama. They disagreed and said all rasengans are the same. This thread just shows how right I was. Thank you OP!

Naruto added Wind nature, created Senjutsu Rasengan, utilized his clone armies to multiply the destructiveness, made it throwable, created a miniature vortex, used satellite spots to augment the main impact site, created a miniature version with a large explosion radius, fired it all directions with chakra arms, the list goes on.

You have to literally not read to skip over all of this.

Im pretty sure i added rs to narutos original arsenal but take a note rasengan was always an incomplete tech. I remember ppl ridiculed naruto for always usong ransengan because most wanted to see something new. However no one could predict the future with the bijuu variants he recieved but its easy to lump all rasengans together. Honestly its.not a big deal anyway

rasengan, senpou/kyuubi rasengan, oodama, chou oodama, senpou oodama/chouoodama, rasengan planet, fuuton rasengan, they all are orbs naruto holds in his hands and shoves into a target to deal damage, it's basically the same technique just with varying levels of damage.

However stuff like rasenshuriken, jiton rasengan, bijuudama and especially gudoudamas are clearly not just a rasengan variant as they aren't just orbs that naruto shoves into his opponent to deal varying levels of damage.

rasenshurikens usually are thrown, act like giant shurikens before blowing up, can expand horizontally by thought, and cause adverse affects like cellular damage.
jiton rasengan doesn't even damage the opponent, rather it seals.
bijuudamas are launched and in a variety of ways, and vaporize targets by their explosion rather than grind.
gudoudamas can radically change shape from sticks to cocoons to giant arm-like wings to swords, shields and platforms.

It doesn't matter that it was an incomplete technique. Naruto completed it and turned it into many different jutsus. Therefore, each and every variant is in fact something new. You also forgot about stuff like planetary rasengan which tears people apart and mini rasenshuriken which can cut people in half as it did with the white zetsu fusion. Bottom line is:

Different effect = different jutsu

It is not a rehash.

Planetary rasengan and wind style rasengan go in the category with the jiton and other stuff. Planetary applies force in different directions on the body to tear an opponent apart. That is an effect of its own.

Either way, different opponents and situations still call for varying levels of damage, so even that still makes it versatile and not just rasengan.
