Why do people think Sasuke needed a distraction?

Well from memory a good sensing feat in base could be similar to Tobirama in a flashback I remember him having his finger on the ground and sensing how many were following them and even being able to identify the group maybe this is what you would consider a good base sensing feat?

Didn't need it is likely but he used it anyway which means if he hadn't the damage done would of been either less or none at all because Naruto's sensing ability already been proven in the War Arc when he was in RSM.

Can't react? he already did when he used that fireball jutsu or did the "!" in the scan which meant Naruto had noticed Sasuke and was able to mitigate the damage done to him by his Chidori

He still reacted to sasuke's Ameno even though Sasuke tried using the Fireball jutsu to get the jump on him so what did you say again?

RSM can be activated in an instant. Even if he does that off the bat, Naruto will either:

- Tank the strike.
- Regenerate from it.

No. It didn't increase his chances at all. If Sasuke wanted to increase his chances he would have attacked when Naruto was in base.

We have more than on occasion where Naruto can barely react.

I'm not sure what this distraction point is, but Sasuke wasn't trying to just "kill" Naruto so much as killing the ideals that he represented in order to enforce his own system. To do that, he would need to defeat Naruto at his strongest, evidenced by that fact that he wanted Naruto to start taking the fight seriously when he remained on the defensive.

Because it makes no sense. If Sasuke wanted to improve his chances he would do it when Naruto was in base mode. Do you understand that if he did it then Naruto would have been stabbed?

Tell me how in the world would a katon be a distraction when Naruto can sense all around himself? It's like saying that Naruto attacking Nagato would have been a distraction for Bee to attack.
