Why do people think Sasuke needed a distraction?

Base Naruto can't sense, so why would he need to distract him?

Sasuke could have simply used Ameno and Naruto would have no idea he was behind him and even if Naruto somehow knew Sasuke was behind him, wouldn't have been able to react.

Still, let's assume it was a distraction (it wasn't).

In what way was Naruto distracted? His attention wasn't hindered in any way, he was still able to sense Sasuke as soon as he spawned, and he was perfectly capable of reacting the same he would have without the fireball. If anything all it did was give time for Naruto to activate his RSM.

It would only be a distraction if Naruto didn't have the sensing that he has.

The one thing you have to remember is that this is a manga with plot. Sometimes, there will be things that seem illogical.

Naruto base sensing feat's already been proven, also Sasuke didn't need to use a distraction but Naruto would of countered him much sooner if he hadn't which is why he used it in the first place.

If Sasuke didn't use that jutsu to get the jump on Naruto then once Sasuke disappeared using Ameno Naruto would of already had the time he needed to counter him much sooner.

I'm not saying Sasuke>Naruto, i'm saying that people need to stop seeing this as a distraction and recognize that Sasuke blitzes Naruto.

Sasuke wanted to force Naruto into taking the fight seriously. He even told Naruto to get serious in the middle if their fight. Naruto wouldn't have reacted, but it wouldn't have given Sasuke the victory he wanted either

People laughed at Naruto because he couldn't sense Sarada and Chouchou chasing him but in the Gaiden it's already stated by himself that he already noticed them following him at the gate so you obviously a selective reader.

To do that, he would need to defeat Naruto at his strongest, evidenced by that fact that he wanted Naruto to start taking the fight seriously when he remained on the defensive.
