Why do people think Nagato is dumb?

Why do some people think Nagato is dumb?
Alot of people claim that Nagato is dumb and merely a powerhouse. Where do people get off to say that? Honestly we havent seen enough screen time of Nagato to say whether or not he was a genius or not but through what we have seen there is nothing that indicates he is Dumb.

Think about it he was able to figure out how Itachi got out of Edo tensei right away with no explanation, while naruto and Bee needed one. Not many ninja can deduce something like that so quickly. Through the way he fights with the paths he shows intelligent, how he alone was able to over throw hanzo and his entire government and military, him being in control of the Rain village and having such a unique security system, controlling akatsuki, staying calm and collective, and from what we have seen him do in battle with the 6pop and when he fought naruto bee and Itachi were all very smart and show much intellegence. The way he used human path to spy on the intelligence team of konaha was also impressive. Also since Nagato is a expert sensor he must have very impressive battle tactics.

I believe many people come off with this assumption that he is unintelligent because of the Itachi vs Nagato threads. People say that Itachi has the upper hand when it comes to brains and for some reason believe Nagato is a moron because of that. I wont argue whether or not Nagato is smarter than Itachi but even if Nagato is not as smart as Itachi that does not mean he is stupid. Personally i think he is a very intelligent ninja and if anything is just a little bit less intelligent than characters like Itachi and minato if not the same.

He's not exactly dumb, but he isnt a genius either.

Most of his prowess stems directly from the powers the rinnegan grants, making it easy for him to learn and master all types of jutsu from a young age.

On the other hand, he was able to make use of different bodies to use each of his different abilities and coordinate them in unison with each other through the rinnegan vision to create a deadly team, all which is controlled by him through the use of chakra receptors.

So i would say that he is pretty smart, but not a genius.

He was Obitos aly, he was going along with there plan that does not mean he was being bossed around. He thought it was the best idea since he lost faith in his prior beliefs. So what are you talking about? Nagato never had a reason to fight Obito

nagato is in no way stupid in fact compared to any ninja he is superior in intelligence second to only people older than him. by this i mean yes i give itach may have more astute reactions but nagato is smarter he was able to defeat jiraiya and quickly out smart him with several pawns had he come on with all six at once he knew that most of the paths were likely to be lost and that tendo would suffer to much damage or that jiraiya might develop a way to defeat tendo. so leaving some pains out and recognizing the transformation going on with in jiraiya and not to mention outclassing naruto every way possible and over powering the ninetails which is not a large accomplishment still counts. Naruto was completely overpowered by pain, with the knowledge naruto had any ninja would be backed into a corner. Although naruto is not very bright nagato was able to overcome naruto and would have not lost if it weren't for the reseal by minato

konan almost killed obito. obito was up against the ropes and holding on for dear life. konan made obito cry in his sleep. he was taken to funky town and danced the moon walk in reverse he had more desire to live than Michael Jackson wanted kids. thats why kishi invented izanagi or the other one so that weak scared sharingan users could hang on for dear life.
