Madara is pretty much a standard Shonen Jump main villian, he is very much like Frieza and Aizen. Both were far more powerful than the hero but both lost in the end because of their arragance and made the mistake of underestimating the hero which ultimately led to their downfall.

But he does have some cool powers.
