Why do people regard Kakashi as a side character?

It's not even debatable that kakashi isn't a main character. Was relevant all throughout part one.
He also has one of the highest episode appearances and also is very relevant to part two.
Anyone that says kakashi is a side character is foolish

Kakashi is definitely a main character.

However i am still disappointed. He was originally known as Kakashi the Copy Ninja: Rumoured to have copied over 1000 Jutsus with his Sharingan; however... where are these moves he is supposed to have copied?

We've only really seen him use Rikiri, Kamui, and some standard (although strong to a certain degree) Ninjutsu Techniques.

Where are these 1000 Jutsus?

If they are not plot relevant is it really worth him having that title if they were fodder jutsus?
