Because it is easier for people to remember information that is recent or has been reinforced rather than actually having to think of past or unfamiliar information. Only Neji, or Hyuga fans in general, can appreciate his strength. Others will ignore it.

Hinata is a hideous piece of tard who is devoted to sucking up to Naruto she can't compare to Neji neither as a character nor a shinobi.

I would argue that Neji's death was essential for Hinata's growth. Killing Neji made room for Hinata to surpass him. So actually she can compare now that he is dead.

Cause hes dead

This^

The fact remains that Neji, and the Hyuuga as a whole weren't shit to Kishimoto. If he doesn't care why should we? Think about this as well. The Hyuuga were set up to be the perfect rivals to the Uchiha, but when we got Itachi wanking flashbacks what name popped up? The Senju. WTF heard of these people? That spot was there for the Hyuuga and Kishimoto said f#ck them niggas.

Death does not determine who is currently stronger; great side of Neji was him surpassing the main family despite being a branch family member; him and Hinata are different characters with different growths Kakashi is alive yet his pupils can still grow. İt was terrible How he died; his character represented something great and giving hope to oppressed ones. Hinata is a main family member who is not branded nor loathed by birth; what Neji succeded meant much more.

My mistake I didn't make my post very clear. I was trying to say that his death made room for Hinata to grow so that she can (as in future tense not present tense) grow. Hinata is in the shadow of Neji genius, which prevents her character from growing. Neji was the standard of what a Hyuga could do thus making all Hinata accomplishments less significant, especially with fans who would assume that because of Neji's natural talent, he should be capable of everything Hinata does plus more. Fan logic states that as long as Neji is alive he will always be superior to Hinata. To overcome said challenges, both to change the opinions of fans and the growth rate of Hinata, it was essential to eliminate the marker of Hyuga prowess i.e Neji. That on top of the apparent notion that destiny works in weird ways and that despite Neji previous effort to escape his destiny, at the end of his life his personal choice actually fulfilled it. Same as his father. Or maybe I'm looking too deep into it.
