Why do people keep making versus threads?

That's my question. I understand the thing that makes people want to do it - I totally get that it can be fun to debate with your friends about hypothetical situations like that. But on this website? Versus threads are never a debate, they're just circle-jerks for fanboys/fangirls of various characters. "OMG F U DUMASS MY FAVRITE CHARCTR WILL TOTALY PWN UR FAVRITE CHARCTR!!!11!1!" So many people are too stubborn to admit when someone with an opposing viewpoint has proven them wrong or even made a valid point at all, so no one gets convinced of anything and the threads never go anywhere.

Don't get me wrong; if you enjoy that type of thing, that's fine. You totally have a right to feel that way if versus threads are still fun for you, so don't feel like I'm insulting you if you do. I'm just wondering, how does anyone still have the energy to make them when they almost always devolve into pointless, circular arguments?

why do you come to the versus section if you don't like versus threads?
I almost never do. Occasionally I look at threads that seem interesting because someone's proposing an unlikely or surprising match-up or something like that, but I often find nothing but arguments, which is why I don't usually go back. And I posted this in the versus section because it was applicable, if that's what you meant.

Biggest Reason: Naruto fans have nothing to talk about by the weekend lol. some of them can be quite interesting. However random ass vs threads like who would win: granny chiyo vs the 3rd kazekage.... some of those just be bias ranting to get old quick.

If you can't take the "versus" get out of the vs. section.
Dude, don't get mad. I'm not trying to hate, just asking a question. And I'll quote myself as well for your benefit: I almost never do [go to the versus section]. Occasionally I look at threads that seem interesting because someone's proposing an unlikely or surprising match-up or something like that, but I often find nothing but arguments, which is why I don't usually go back.
