Why do people hate power?!

I was having a debate w/ some friends of mine. They just seem to hate it when people are "over powered" (like Madara supposedly is). I notice that a lot of members here hate that too. My question is: Why?!!!!!!!!!! Do not say that it is because there is no strategizing when power is involved because there can be plenty of strategizing when power is involved! Lets say that a villain had the ability to blow out a large quantity of the radioactive isotope carbon - 11. This isotope would quickly undergo decay, emitting positrons that would annhialate with electrons in the air and other matter (including the hero). This, in addition to annhialating some of the hero's electrons and potentially breaking some of the vital molecular bonds within the hero's body or the atmosphere, would cause gamma ray photons to be emmitted that could potentially hit and harm the hero and his allies. This technique could be considered a powerful technique (maybe even over powered) but a hero could still strategize and think of doing something like converting some rubidium into its Bose Einstein condensate form and using this BEC as a shield to slow down the gamma ray photons (because experiments have proven that BEC's can slow down light to a crawl) while letting the positrons simply annihilate with the electrons of the rubidium atoms and carbon atoms. This would be an example of some strategizing in a situation where there is power involved, so you can't use a lack of strategizing as a reason for hating power.

Furthermore, in a battle manga, what is the point of having the heroes and villains be weak? There is no over powered. If you say that a villain is over powered, it is actually just the hero being too weak to beat that villain! They clearly need to get stronger. Do you really want your villains or heroes to be weak? Do you really agree with my friends that Madara or any other person for that matter is over powered?

I don't know about you guys, but I didn't come to see villains that Dora the explorer and Spongebob could beat!

In addition, you can't truthfully say that there is no plot where there is power, because the Naruto series and many other series have powerful characters while still having captivating and interesting plots.

It is for these reasons that I just don't get why anyone would say that a character is over powered or that a story gets boring when characters get "too powerful"! Please help me understand this, because it makes no sense to me!

You can say something about that, but I would greatly appreciate if you actually responded to the actual topic of the thread in addition to saying how I typed too much (if you must mention that). This. What manga is going to do that? You could have just used how they strategically figured out how to get around Obito's OP jutsu, Kamui, to hit him.

5 Kages vs. Madara wasn't one sided. The Kages got some good hits in on Madara and his clones.

Do you know what a Mary Sue is? Some characters only show a little sign of being a Mary Sue (Madara/Might Guy), while other characters just bleed Mary Sue whenever they are shown (Ichigo Kurosaki).

you said it yourself,clones,there was no real sense of danger or suspence on that fight,the kages do everything madra tanks it all with susanoo.
the only part that raised the tension was when they trapped him with their combined attack before that gets trolled again with a bigger susanoo.

There was also when the Tsunade and Ay were hitting Madara and when Onoki, the mizukage and Ay hurt Madara when the kages first assembled. Plus, seeing Madara's jutsus like the meteors and the flower world technique and the susanoo clones was very entertaining to me.

If you like one-side fights then excess power is your stuff, i prefer both side giving it their all and beating each other into unconciousness.

PS: i love the war Madar fodderlized those guy, that was just to fun, one of the few times i enjoyed a total beatdown.

well it wasn't for me,it's not about new jutsus,it's about how good these techs are executed and how good was the oppenent at countering it,that's what's really entertaining for me,madara VS hashirama had that.well maybe because i'm more intrested on 1VS1 equal fights that both parts shed blood and tears in.

another thing in this manga i never liked,it always felt to me that kishimoto is making everyone go sloppy mode when they face an uchiha(naruto a prime example,always going into the sloppiest fighter each time an uchiha is around).minato losing an arm so easily and basically standing around doing nothing half of the time).
people know it's bad and it's killing the manga's spirit and everything it stood for,yet the author continues to do that,i wonder where this manga is headed.

Yes. You said that you agree with the standards of what people perceive someone villainous to be. Don't those standards include tons of power? Would you be satisfied if the villain only had the strength of Spongebob Squarepants or Charlie Brown?
