Why do people consider sealing a bijuu as a form of defeat?

It's getting really annoying how people say that just by sealing up a bijuu you automatically "defeat" them.
They claim that sm madara> sage . Just because of sealing the juubi without even fighting it himself.

I've even seen some people say heavily wounded obito> Sage. just because obito sealed up the juubi without even battling it physically.

It's bs, because those weren't even a damn fight.... The only thing i consider "defeating" a bijuu is fighting it head on. Just like the 3rd raikage did.

and the sage and his bro taking on the juubi

I guess that makes Kushina>Kyuubi then if they are using that reasoning.

I see it as defeat. But defeat doesn't always mean superior.

Yeah but they've said forever that the sage's sealing the juubi is what ended that battle. That scan shows the Ootsutsuki brothers mobbing towards the juubi, but it doesnt show them actually fighting.

Also, sealing is just like any other type of jutsu. It can be used offensively or defensively and is a legitimate way to fight. Lots of characters in Naruto use seals and curse marks.

Well the way Madara and Obito sealed the Juubi were completely different from the sage. The sage actually fought the ten tails, when it was at it's full power. Not these half ass versions Madara and Obito were in control of in the 1st place.

If the sage had to fight the Juubi, then it's his problem, not Obito's.

To me, fighting includes using seals, whether its seals for a bijuu or seals for other things like curses or teleportation. Seals are used to defeat just like any other jutsu is used to defeat someone

I'm just saying. people really shouldn't say obito>the sage.

if that's the case then the sage should've said something like " We defeated the juubi by sealing within me" or something. but i'll keep an open mind.

Defeating someone means that you make it so they can't continue the fight. If you fight a Bijuu and end up sealing it, then its a defeat, but if you don't even fight it (Madara and Obito) there is no victor or loser. No one was defeated.
