That's cause we also have the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, NASCAR and other sports. We aren't like other countries where all we have is soccer. Hence why it isn't as popular here. However there's plenty of people who pretend to care once every four years for the world cup to root for team USA because they are patriotic. I for one couldn't even pretend to be interested in soccer enough to watch the US play
