Why do people act like the war was long

I find it weird when people say thinks like 'Narutos been to consumed with the war' For example NaruHinata fans will say 'the reason Naruto never responded to Hinatas confession was because he was busy with war' but if you reread the manga the war has been about a week MAX. Yeah to us it may have been 3-4 years but thats not the case in the Naruto Universe.

The war was too damn long. They should have shorted it so the ending of battle between noodles and sauce didn't feel so short
