I think it's a good game, definitely better than FF12, I admit it's even more linear than FFX but the combat mechanics make up for that, plus the graphics are phenomenal, so why hate it? is it because of the biomechanic looking summons? the story? the characters?

It's a good game imo, but it's not one of the best FF games.

It was far too linear (you don't get to free-roam until half-way through the entire game) and the combat was fairly bad. I'd expect most found it too difficult to understand, combined with the sharp learning curves that came with each boss battle.
Personally, I didn't like the Eidolons very much.

I don't hate it, but I expected it to be implemented better.

i love final fantasy XIII and XIII-2 and i dont understand why people hate it either... but let me put some guesses tho!

every final fantasy fan always says there's these sentimental memories from playing final fantasy 7 or 10... it was SOOO GREAT etc.

but seriously...

1. either they were kids when final fantasy 7 was released. now they are adults with no job and can't afford a ps3.

2. they must've got a job and aint got no time to play this awesome RPG

3. they say it sucks without even trying it, cause everyone else says

4. they did try it, and didn't like that the game didn't include a lot of monsters and goblins / super weird cute gigglypuffs that are totally badass.

5. they just hate it because they grew up?

i dont even know. but these are my guesses... cause seriously... it's not BAD GAMES! i totally agree with you Mr. Derp Obito

XIII was good, haven't bothered with -2. Every complaint I heard was over the battle system, personally I thought the battle system was great.

Why is everyone dissing 12?!? Loved the combat system, granted didnt really have a main character and vaan was a let down but i loved it.

13 imo, was way too linear. You say 10 was linear but once you got the airship you cld go anywhere you wanted and there were like super bosses available which gave you another goal.

13's level system was rubbish. You had to develop characters the way they wanted you too and couldnt have anything else.

Completing it 100% and getting all the achievment was way easier to do than any other ff game.
And yes before you ask i have completed them all 100% lol love them all

But i liked the characters, fight system was ok. Loved the story line and ending was brill imo.
Just a slow story line to get and too slow a game for these crack head gamers these days that just want another ff7.

Great game that was only made a bit more fun to play by making ff13-2 and soon ff13- lightning returns should also be a nice conclusion to the series. =]

The characters of ff12 are boring and their dialogue is wooden, Vaan is barely noticeable, Asche is dull and uninteresting, the only one who had the semblance of a personality was Balthier.

7 was not that great. If anything ff4 kicked it's ass in story line and ill final boss. Ff6's kefka actually won and destroyed the planet.
Ff7 was a good game but for it to be the best ff game i highly doupt it.
From experience most people that say ff7 was the best havnt played all of them and dont know half the story lines.

I actually played all of the Final Fantasy games up to date and I must say, out of all of them I enjoyed playing VII the most.

Pros:
Bad ass boss, Bad ass main character, Mime pawns, Knights of the **cking Round, Omnislash (who wouldn't be amazed after witnessing an epic Sword play to that caliber?), Memorable Characters, Decent (more like, Best storyline out of all the FF series), Death Of Aerith, etc.

Cons:
I did not understand the ending. lol

OT: It's boring.
I mean, if you enjoy grinding for countless hours you may actually enjoy this game. But as for me, the longer I play the game the heavier my boredom level increases. And what is up with that sphere grid? Did they actually copy Final Fantasy X's system? It's super boring filling the grid up. I stopped playing the game, I dont even remember what dungeon I was on. lol
