Why didn't tsunade's regeneration work?

Katsuyu seems pretty confident she can mend Granny Tsunade's bisection, and Oro did mention granny can't really die in battle.

Did she's dead. But the purpose of this thread was "what happened to her abilities" (her regeneration) and from the reactions of the slug and tsunade I would say her abilities are working find.

Her byakugou ran out, meaning that she was running extremely low on chakra. She's just about out of chakra now that she used it up summoning Katsuyu.

What abilities can she use without chakra?

Dude she got cut down in TWO, both parts separated from each other by a huge tree trunk lol..

Plus she needs quite a lot of chakra to pull herself together and she has already decided to help the other Kages instead.
