since sage only gave him half power i believe he only got the rinnegan on one side.. since its also his dominant side which is also the side the moon is on its very likely its cause by the sages power that awakened it

i believe the reason why his rinnegan is unique is most likely because of the sages power merging with sasukes own power.. and then the added benefit of being indra's reincarnation..

This seems pretty accurate to me I was thinking it was possibly the third eye from the sages forehead which also may have possessed a different power from his other eyes.

I remember when he awoke the sharingan that he had 1 tomoe in one eye and two on the other, and I also think that it was mentioned that when Sasuke gained ms that he had better control with the one eye that controlled the amaterasu flames.
