You guys are better than that.
Of freaking course he knew that Ace was Gol D's son, you take Rayleigh for a fool.

The easiest answer is this, BECAUSE HE FUCKING DIDN'T!
It's the same reason as to why didn't Rayleigh wipe out the Navy contingent on Sabaody and allow the Supernova's to walk free?

Over-thinking unimportant matters will fuck up your life.
Rayleigh is no fool, but how the hell would he know that Ace is Roger's son? Ace was born long after Roger died and Rayleigh went into hiding. Ace's birth was kept lowkey and his identity as Roger's son was kept a secret. The chances of Rayleigh knowing that Ace was Roger's son prior to the announcement is extremely low.

Theres many ways to answer your question, but the most logical answer is that rayleigh was all the way in sabaody, and didn't know that ace was going to be executed.

Someone as smart as Rayleigh and as powerful did not know of Gol D's son even considering how deep their friendship was? The chances of that are extremely lower than what you are proposing sir.

Seeing as how Rayleigh separated himself from the rest of the world, Ace was kept secret from the world, and neither Roger nor Rayleigh knew when or where Ace would be born, and the fact that Rouge died right after giving birth and that Garp kept his relationship with Ace mostly a secret, no, his chances aren't looking very good at all.

I ask you, HOW would Rayleigh know that Ace is Roger's son? Being Roger's first mate isn't good enough, how would this information become availabe to him?

Here's a tip.
The fact that Whitebeard was made aware is impart the same reason how Rayleigh would know.

His seclusion has nothing to do with him having a deeper relationship with Roger and not being aware of what is going on around in the world around him. Why should Garp hear from Rogers mouth that he(Roger) has a son and not Rayleigh?

So that also means that Rayleigh didn't know that Dragon was Luffy's Dad because Garp was the same way with his relationship with Luffy. But did that matter to Rayleigh? No.

The fact that you many others think that Roger would keep this information away from his crews inner-circle is laughable.

Also considering the fact that Garp kept it hidden from the World Government, yet they knew anyhow that Ace was Rogers son seems more conspicuous than Rayleigh not at all having known of this.

Use a little of your own brain. The fact that Rayleigh is even in hiding considering his status, why the heck would he put Ace in danger and knowing how deeply he bromanced Roger, he wasn't going to do that to Ace and Roger.

Why the heck is this hard for people to understand?

Ace told Rayleigh? There has never been any indication of Rayleigh and Ace meeting, so unlikely.

I never said Rayleigh didn't know Roger was having a son. Of course Roger would tell Rayleigh, Rayleigh just wouldn't know that it's Ace.

And?

No one is saying that Roger would keep the information of him having a child a secret. Roger, however, would have no idea of knowing when and where his child would be born. The only way for Rayleigh to know about Ace is either through Rouge or Garp. Rouge died right after Ace died, so he didn't get the information from her. He's been hiding from the Marines since the crew disbanded, so he's not chummy with Garp. Garp respected Roger, Garp never indicated that this respect extended to his crew as well.

No, it makes perfect sense for the WG to find this out but not Rayleigh. For one, Rayleigh is one man who lives on one island in seclusion. The WG is a government, they are in charge of the world's distribution of information. As Ace grew as a pirate, they reported it, they have a far greater access to information than Ray does, of course they'd be able to put together pieces they have access too and Ray doesn't.

Forgive my run-on's and comma splices.
No one said Ace met Rayleigh; however, Ace being a NW Whitebeard 2nd Division Commanders who's to say they didn't have an encounter? But that's a dud.

So what you are getting at is that Rayleigh an inactive Pirate of his status has no access at all to know that Ace wasn't Rogers son? Riiiiight.

This thread made me realize that Roger Trusted a marine with a major secrete but couldn't share that secrete with his own crew, not even his first mate XD

But Rayliegh, enough though powerful wouldn't of been able to make much of a difference imo.

Perhaps because if one of the Big shots of the roger pirates was hanging around a certain island it would have attracted a lot of unwanted attention.

This is one of the weakest arguments ever.
Smartness and power has got nothing to do with knowing something and not knowing something. You sir have no brains.

It isn't really a weak argument, we have seen a lot of people comparing Luffy with Roger & even thought that they are somehow related because he has some traits similar to Roger and I am sure those people don't know as much as Rayleigh about Roger. Even WG realized that Ace is Rogers son only because of his actions. So, Rayleigh realizing that he's the son of Roger isn't far fetched.

OT: There are no signs of surprise or any kind of concern regarding Ace& his identity from Rayleigh so I guess he already know about him & thought that WB could save him and it is actually none of his business. Or May be he really don't know about his identity like others noted.

He saved Luffy and did all those things for him just because he has something in common with Roger so I don't think he would feel like saving Aces life is none of his business so I guess most logical answers are he believed that WB could save him or He don't know about Ace.

Judging by how good Rayleigh can figure stuff out it wldnt b that hard for him to draw two n two on Portgas D. Ace captain of the Spade pirates, I mean he shld have obviously known his dear partner's bonny lass now shldnt he, though this is still dependent on how up to date Rayleigh keeps himself with current affairs so.maybe he never heard Oda Ace before him meeting with WB or even after but I'm not sold on that one.

As for wld he have been helpful then Yah a lot actually coz in op these names of legend have a tendency to change the tide of battle by even just Smashing one Pacifista or something(u know the lackeys will give it their all after witnessing such stuff)

By that logic Luffy would have been the obvious contendor to be rogers son. From what Shanks told rayleigh and how he was on the same island as Ace it should be easy to confuse luffy and ace. Because luffy's behaviour is also very similar to Roger than Ace's was. The thing is WB never met luffy until the marineford war.

Please tell me how Roger was supposed to tell his crew where his son would be born, when he'd be born, where he'd live and what he'd look like when Ace was born after he died?

there may be many reasons
1.Rayleigh didn't knew he was roger's son
2.He thought may be WB pirates can save him
3.No need to butt in other matters
4.He is old and may not have done much
5.plot reasons to make luffy PK ace shouldn't live(because he had more growth rate or potential)

Another important thing we should remember is that Luffy was very aggressive about Ace and had his mind set on rescuing him, himself. He didn't take kindly to Whitebeard trying to rescue him, though he didn't necessarily stop him.

I'd like to think that he would've felt the same way about Rayleigh interfering with his mission.

At first I considered maybe they'd know from his name, Ace and Portgas, and be able to put the pieces together. A strong pirate with traits of Roger with the last name of Roger's lover and the name Roger designated for his son? Can't be a coincidence.

But then I remembered two things Roger said to Garp. He said "I trust you as much as anyone in my own crew", which is interesting because he never referred to Ace by name to Garp. Rouge said she and Roger picked Ace as the name if he was a boy, so it had to be before he was captured that Roger knew his son would be named Ace. And he always said "son" or "boy" to Garp. "Take care of my boy, Garp!" "Watch over my son!" Garp didn't find out his name till he was born, so maybe Roger never told his crew that his son would be Ace either.

Yes, Luffy has some traits in common with Roger which is why some people thought that he might be related to Roger or has some kind of connection with him. Similarly, WG realized that Ace is Rogers son because of his actions. See, his actions alone are more than enough to conform that he's Rogers son, with this it can be implied that Ace has a lot of things in common with his father so it is totally possible for Rayleigh to realize that Ace is Rogers son since he has more knowledge on Roger than anyone else in OP world.

Note: I am not trying to say that he's aware of Aces identity. But it isn't far fetched.
