Why Didn't Obito Capture The Tailed Beasts Himself?

Obito probably wanted the Akatsuki members to go and try to catch them so they can all die, and Obito can come out of the shadows.

Because he didn't want to break his cool. He had the other Akatsuki members to take care of it for him. It would have been pretty odd if this goofy looking guy suddenly just went and captured the tailed beasts by himself.

I don't think Kamui'ing into the Tailed Beats home and stealing them under cover of darkness would do good for the story.

The series would be over in about 10 chapters if this method was used. Besides, he needed to manipulate the Akatsuki, because this was part of his plan.

But I think using the akatsuki to do the job was mostly to conceal his identity better and gather a group of fighters that could ward off enemies and potential hazards later on.

He could do it all himself technically, which is probably why he was so nonchalant before. I'm also not sure how Obito could know which jinchuurikis were jinchuurikis. That's intel and recon stuff that the zetsus are best at. And even when he does have that knowledge he needed Nagato to use the gedo mazo statue and help with the sealing I think.

In the end there were way too many things Obito needed to handle, and having a bunch of freaks running around doing the job for him probably made it easier for him to focus on other things. He could easily do it himself later anyways.

Also he still needs to subdue them. I don't think you can seal a perfectly able fighter. If he sucks them away and brings them to the statue to seal (which apparently needs quite a few people to make it manageable) then what? I think they need to be properly beaten and unconscious to make the sealing easier. So he'd still need to fight them and stuff.

And this was the best way to access the potential of the members. Again it also has another point: Do you remember the part where it was stated that Akatsuki served as a replacement to the millitary system of a hidden village? It was also for this perspective.Obito also wanted to get rid of the Shinobi system from the inside-out as that would ultimately serve his purpose!

Yeah but my point is that he could easily do the same thing as he did against 8-tails.
