Naruto was clearly overpowered at that time & even won against a tailed bijuu. If my memory serves me right, sasuke got infuriated with Naruto after seeing him summon the toad boss, & thus lead to this:

I also need to emphasize that this is the "toad boss" we're talking about, a very powerful & experienced summon that has gone to wars. Naruto can also transform along with the toad boss if he wished. Evidence:

& I'm not even including the kyuubi's chakra. So as a conclusion, Naruto would have stomped, if he had though clearly.​

Gamabunta would probably laugh at Naruto trying to summon him to finish off a 12 year old kid. People only use summonings for other boss level monsters, and/or groups.

Pain always used summons tho.

The obvious answer is that Naruto didn't have his chakra under control that entire time. He was going KN0 well before he even encountered Sasuke, when Kimimaro got in his way. Emotional Naruto is in no way strategic, and probably wasn't proficient enough with chakra control to even attempt trying to summon Gamabunta while he was that emotional, never mind thinking of it. After he started going into tailed modes, it was a moot point.

He still had some control, if he didn't he would've had a killing intent.

Why did naruto heal from a wound that drastic instantly when hes never done it before or after?

Why didnt sasuke use chidori as his first attack since naruto got punched in the stomach so hard he went flying a chidori would do better in the situation
