Because there is no guarantee that you would kill him due to being exhausted yourself... so,you set it up beforehand to insure that you escape with your-life if things go south:bdpf:

Wonder what would've happened if they had cremated him.

True but i think that time delayed Izanagi was kinda eh. I guess he had to fake his death because if he had won Tobirama would have sent people to find him or some ish.

Exhausted and Izanagi should not be used in the same sentence.

That entire battle went as Madara planned. He could have won, but he didn't. He wanted the world to think he was dead, and he wanted to get Hashirama's DNA. He got both.

Yet it's what happened.

Transcription Seal: Izanagi

This is a Mangekyō Sharingan technique that seals the technique Izanagi within the Sharingan of the target. After being sealed within the person, it is involuntarily activated when certain requirements, which are predetermined by the user, are met. Madara Uchiha used this on his own right eye, to trigger after he dies in order to rewrite his death into a mere dream.

It's like Boruto's Kote device. The jutsu is sealed beforehand with a set of requirements for activation and thus even a dead body can use it.

I don't understand your point.

That was Madara's plan from the start. It wasn't a failsafe, it was literally the plan.

I was responding to...

"Exhausted and Izanagi should not be used in the same sentence."

I only remember that he wanted Hashirama's Dna...Was it said directly that he planned to die and knew he could beat Hashirama? Where?

It was not said, but it's obvious. Izanagi removes all of your wounds. Hashirama fell to his knees seconds after he stabbed Madara.

2+2=4

Ahh,then I stick to my interpretation.

Madara did this beforehand, he didn't have foresight, so he had no idea how the fight would turnout(Namely to what extent Hashirama would be exhausted). From a readers point of view, after the fact, we can say "hey, Madara could've won with Izanagi at the end there". But from Madara's Pov...he had no guarantee that Hashirama wouldn't land a killing blow on him before being driven to the point of exhaustion. He lost to Hashirama a couple of times and acknowledged his strength...so, i don't think he was underestimating him like that.

Madara wasn't completely healed after Izanagi either, he still had his wound from getting stabbed by Hashirama...

When Obito was fighting Konan he said that was the plan. Then when Madara was edo he said that was the plan. Then i think Zetsu said it as well. Well something similar.

Madara had to fake his death so he could do his plan in the shadows.

I think you're looking for this scan and the one madara showed hashirama the stone tablet. He planned to wait for the future to do things but i transcript izanagi was not part of his immediate arsenal. It was a fall-back plan if he happened to lose the battle against hashirama in which he barely did by a clone feint.

When Obito was fighting Konan--He just stated that he engaged Hashirama in battle to get his power.

when Madara was edo - He never went into detail of how he was going to accomplish Tsukuyomi...and he actually seemed to be trying to kill Hashirama in the fight.

Zetsu- Didn't insinuate that loosing to Hashirama was the main plan "But Uchiha Madara was felled by Senju Hashirama" it even seems lucky that his body wasn't disposed of...what if they had decided to cremate him?

So far, there's nothing to hint that Madara could've killed Hashirama at his leisure.
