Why didn't Madara just cut Guy's arm?

It doesn't make any sense if one of the fastest shinobi like Minato would get his ass stomped by one staff and got his arm broken so easily, how? Sure Edo Tensei consists of paper inside their dead body so it make it easier to cut it, however as for normal body with blood then it is harder to cut because of bones.
Guy is fast and went on full speed that makes the ground fired up, HOWEVER, Madara was supposed to have Hashirama's Sensing abilities ALONG with Rinnegan sensing skills? WTF happened?

Guys striking speed is leagues faster than minatos. minato is only fast through his footspeed/reflexes and FTG use, but his ability to srike an opponent before they react with just his limbs is subpar from most elite taijutsu users.

Gais striking speed is faster, Madara was more concerned about not getting hit, plus gai was cautious not to get hit by the staff.

You know when someone is about to hit you and you throw your arms up real fast so you don't get hit in the face? Well that's pretty much what Madara did so he wouldn't get hit. That's why he didn't lose a limb.. I don't think anyone but the Edo's have had anything actually chopped off now that I think about it..

Gai is indeed faster aswell.

Lol, Madara was probably shocked because he didnot expect guy to be that fast- second, guy has the best striking feats in the manga. His punches ignite the air -just with friction. ( think about things that ignite due to friction ( objects in reentry, railgun, comet, etc....) -The fact that Madara dodged most/if not all of them is a incredible reactive feat on his part.
