Why didn't Jiraya tell Naruto that Minato was hes dad

The same reason that his last name is Uzumaki and not Namikaze... because they didnt want him to know, and maybe his dad didnt want anyone else to tell him because he was smart enough to for see what can happen if the truths context is manipulated unlike itachi.

Well they wanted to protect Naruto. That's why he was given Kushina's last name instead of Minato's - if an enemy even got a hint that Naruto was the child of the Fourth Hokage, they would probably try and attempt to kidnap him. That's why I think they never told Naruto about his parents. Plus Jiraiya was away for years so he didn't have the time to tell Naruto about his parents.

If they told him when he was around 12 and explained how dangerous it could be I dont really think Naruto would do that.

it doesn't bug me as much as the fact that neither jiraiya nor kakashi took care of naruto when he was a kid. they did pretty well once they were introduced, but they were really close to his father and should have taken some interest before they happened upon him at 12 imo... but he wouldn't have been a loser with those 2 teaching him then i guess
