Why didn't Itachi use Kotoamatsukami on Obito rather than save it for Sasuke?
Like Itachi decided to die by Sasuke's hand, so that Sasuke would return to the village and protect it, but then kept Kotoamatsukami as a backup plan in case Sasuke found out the truth about Itachi and decided to destroy the village. He was also worried about Obito getting to Sasuke first and telling him the truth so he implanted a timed Amaterasu attack into Sasuke's eye in an attempt to kill Obito should the two ever meet, this ofcourse didn't work. So why didn't Itachi instead use Kotoamatsukami against Obito from the very beginning, then die by Sasuke as originally planned, then Sasuke would go back to the village, Obito could have also returned to the village theoretically, and the War would have never happened, and the village would be safer than ever.

He kept the village safe, there was no attacks on the village or even really on Naruto until Itachi died. When he and Kisame attacked, he made them leave before any real damage was one, and left Naruto alone to train with Jiraiya for nearly 3 years under the guise that Jiraiya was "too dangerous" to **** with.

Have Obito kill Zetsu


He kept the village safe, there was no attacks on the village or even really on Naruto until Itachi died. When he and Kisame attacked, he made them leave before any real damage was one, and left Naruto alone to train with Jiraiya for nearly 3 years under the guise that Jiraiya was "too dangerous" to **** with.

How about zetsu immediantly gets obito out of the genjutsu.

Because he thought it was Madara. Itachi cited him as being his superior, so the stakes would've been high if he had intended to try that. If it failed, he couldn't protect Konoha or Sasuke for the fact that he'd be dead.

Okay so how about, on one of the occassions in which Zetsu is seperated from Obito, Itachi kills Zetsu, then goes on with the plan. Also there's nothing to suggest that Zetsu would realise that Obito was under Kotoamatsukami, or even that he knew what it was.

What has that got to do with anything?
This was about stopping Zetsu from pulling Obito out of the Genjutsu, Zetsu being the closest person to Obito, makes sense that he would get rid of him before going after Obito.

sorry misunderstood for a second there, when Immortal said because there is Zetsu so it doesn't matter, I assumed he meant Zetsu could tell Sasuke the truth.

I don't really understand what you mean, but I don't really think it's a waste, I mean he could have literally stopped the entire war, and got Sasuke back to the village to protect it, without him ever knowing the truth.

Itachi didn't know the truth about Zetzu or what KIND of threat he was.

A better question is why didn't Itachi and Sasuke swap eyes so they both can unlock EMS.

It was a huge gamble to him yea a weakened Madara but in his pov it was still Madara and he also still had izanami and maybe because if that he knew like with danzo Madara,might use izanagi to escape

Except Izanagi works like this, you activate it, and during the time after activation if you suffer any damage, it becomes an illusion. He'd already have had to have Izanagi activated before the Genjutsu was placed on him. Also the Genjutsu works so well that you are not aware that you are under it's control. And Koto is way more likely to work than Amaterasu was.

Yeah I never really understood how that works, because they way things turn out, it's not possible, but it doesn't ever answer as to why.
