Why Didn't Itachi Tell Hiruzen About Danzo

I've always wondered why Itachi didn't tell Hiruzen about what Danzo's actions before the Uchiha Clan Massacre.

1.) After Danzo stole Shisui's eye, Shisui and Itachi later met and Shisui told him about what happened. Itachi could have gone to Hiruzen and informed him about what Danzo did.

2.) When Danzo summoned Itachi and talked to him about picking a side (the village or the clan), Danzo made it clear that he wanted the Uchiha wiped out by force. Why didn't Itachi report this to Hiruzen?

Well you're definitely right about Hiruzen being stand-offish. He always just stood there and let bad stuff get worse.

its a plot hole but im sure hee told him some stuff about him or hiruzen already had a clue.

and itachi begged hiruzen to keep his little brother safe from danzo or anyone else that wanted him dead.

Because if he told Hiruzen it would make everything much worse. It wouldn't make things better at all.

1) Then Hiruzen wouldn't do anything. He learned about the Uchiha massacre ordeal and did nothing to reprimand Danzo. Danzo is also Hiruzen's best friend and they have known each other for 50+ years. Hiruzen knows what type of person Danzo is, even better than Itachi does, and accepts that dark things need to occur in the village in order for it to remain standing. That and the most Hiruzen would do with Danzo is probably scold him about it. But that would be terrible, considering that it would automatically mean that Hiruzen found out through Itachi. Then Danzo would know that Itachi obviously found out from his best friend, Shisui, which would mean that Itachi had Shisui's other eye & Danzo would probably set out to get it.

2) Because the Uchiha didn't want to settle with a peace negotiation. So the Uchiha were going to do the coup and that would mean that Konoha would have to fight back and stop it. So the Uchiha would be executed as traitors. It wouldn't have helped to tell Hiruzen, because at this point in time the Uchiha were going out either way and everyone knew that.

This right here. It wouldn't have done anything good.

But you also have to consider that Hiruzen is the one who said that he sent Itachi to Akatsuki after the massacre. So, Itachi did tell him some things. Maybe he told him about both, who knows? Perhaps the 3rd didn't do anything and he just accepted it (considering he let Danzo happily keep his position for years to come & how passive the guy is). But even if Itachi didn't tell him, it would have been worth nothing in the first place, Hiruzen knows Danzo better than Itachi knows Danzo anyway.

I don't think it would have gone worse other than some fighting against Root. Hiruzen should have investigated Danzo and then should have eliminated Root.

Nah I wasn't basing this off of the recent filler. We know that in the manga Itachi met with Shisui after his eye was taken, and Itachi begged Hiruzen to watch over Sasuke.

Why would Shisui tell him that? Shisui knew just as well as Itachi that if stuff like that wasn't reported then the Uchiha would just be wiped out. Withholding that information wouldn't have done any good.
