Why didn't Itachi just kill Danzo?

OP's acting as if being a douche justifies murdering the second most influential person in the hierarchy of the village, not to mention Itachi's own military higher-up and one of the best friends of the current Hokage... :|

He just does it to attempt to discredit Itachi. Threads like this I won't miss.

Killing Danzo goes against his pacifist nature. The Uchiha aren't going to accept a kid as Hokage, no matter who he is. They would have picked Fugaku, and the village would be against it. War was unavoidable. Also KA wasn't usable at the time.
No, if he had two choices for peace then obviously the one with less deaths would be better for a pacifist. And Itachi was the pride of the Uchiha, Fugaku would allow his son to be Hokage, so therefore the jealous Uchiha would have no choice but all of them would have no reason for a war if an Uchiha was Hokage. Also, Hiruzen was praised as a hero, if he said Itachi was worthy then the village would probably believe so. If not then use KA on Hiruzen to make Fugaku the leader.

At the bold, I didn't think of this, however if KA did work, he could've done what I just said to avoid war. But you're right, I don't think it could have been used.

We've already seen that Fugaku could barely keep Itachi from going to jail. He can't convince the Uchiha or the Leaf to accept a kid as Hokage.

Yagura was a kid. And did he not have the wisdom of a Kage at the age of 7? I don't know, anyone with a brain would probably allow him if they've seen what he was capable of. It's even easier if Hiruzen is supporting him when under KA. But it doesn't matter, the fact that KA wouldn't have worked just ruins the plan, my bad.

Pretty sure it was stated he wasn't a kid and he was also a Jinchuricki.

For all of you guys out there calling Itachi the Soloking, why didn't he just kill Danzo with Totsuka Blade? Seriously, you can't say he had no reason to. Danzo stole Shisui's eye, Itachi was Shisui's best friend. And if Itachi was worried about Danzo touching Sasuke, just kill Danzo.

its quite simple how the hell can all u guys watch naruto and not know this???

ahhh here goes... Kiling danzo would not have prevented the uchiha coupe all would happen he would have killed danzo and there would have still been a civil war the only way to avoid that war was to reach a resolution with the uchiha which was impossible the real problem wasn't danzo but the system left behind by the second hokage.

Because that would have been the most moronic thing to do in the situation. The Uchiha are suspected for the Kyuubi attack and the village is on edge since all of them barring 5 yr old Itachi and infant Sasuke weren't there that night when they were supposed to be. The Uchiha heir killing a respected Konoha elder means instant war. People aren't going to stand for Uchiha attacking influential people in Konoha, someone holding the second most amount of power in the village.

Also, he was 13 then. He didn't possess Totsuka until years after he left Konoha.

Itachi kills Danzo, a war happens, and Sasuke is still in danger since more people out there are out to get him since he's an Uchiha. Not very sound logic. There's no possible way to eliminate all the threats.

Danzo stole Shisui's eye since he didn't trust him and KA is just genjutsu, a temporary solution. What would have happened if a Hyuuga happened to see that the chakra of the Uchiha were disturbed and broke the genjutsu? That plan wouldn't have worked. Both Shisui and Itachi knew that the eye was in safe hands, in the hands of someone who'd use it to defend the village. Why randomly go kill him to get an eye that only works once every ten years, when neither Uchiha have possession of Senju DNA to lessen that lengthy activation time?

You also have to keep in mind that Itachi was somewhat of a pacifist. He only killed when he absolutely had to or to keep up his cover. Nothing more, nothing less. He tends to end fights quickly, for that reason, with genjutsu. It's out of character for him to just get up, kill Danzo out of anger (when Itachi's a calm person and doesn't hold grudges towards anyone, he only blames himself for every bad thing occuring), and let the war happen over that the next day. Glad he didn't do that, lol.

At that point in his life Itachi was not strong enough to defeat Danzo.

Chie wrote him a book on why he's wrong, but he'll make the same thread next week. Lol

Him being a jinchuriki just means he was strong, that's not exactly criteria for a Kage, and he wasn't a kid?!

Sadly, plot chains were wrapped tightly around the solo king.

For the hidden mist village strong would have been the main requirement as well as his unusual level of control over his tailed beast. The Leaf would not be likely to agree to a kid over the third let alone an Uchiha kid. And the Uchiha would not have been likely to accept a kid as Hokage either. They are a prideful clan, what does it say about them if a kid is Hokage rather than themselves?

He was a great ninja, doesn't change the fact that he was a kid. Normally I'd say something like this is an opinion but based on what we've seen it isn't even close to being likely.
