Why didn't Hiruzen punish Danzo/elders?

Last night I was reading this fanfiction were Danzo was still a live and Tsunade was Hokage. So in that story Tsunade found out what Danzo did, she was pissed off and she punished him for his crimes. She took the stolen uchiha eyes and dismissed him from his position.

Now i wonder, why did Hiruzen let Danzo get a away with it. He was the Hokage, he calls the shots not Danzo. Why didnt he punish him?!

Hiruzen ordered Itachi to buy him time, Danzo went behind his back and gave Itachi another mission. So he didnt accept the elders advise.

I dont know about you but I would be pissed off if I was the Kage and one of my advisiors gave such an important mission behind my back. Danzo ignored the Hokage's decision.

About the eyes, you could be right. The funny thing is that he has those eyes before the massacre, i wonder who he killed lol. Maybe thats why the Uchiha started a uprise

Remember, it was made to seem as Itachi was a rogue shinobi who murdered his own clan. If Hiruzen punished Danzo, the village would get in with everything that happened, and more chaos, disorder and murder would happen.

That was Hiruzen's reasoning, at least.

I'm not sure if Hiruzen actually knew that Danzo and root took all the Uchiha eyes .. and to be honnest, Danzo didn't even took that many sharingans .. if u see how many Obito had in his lab ^^

it was for the good of the village, and the elders probably forced him to allow danzo to act even though, we saw danzo and itachi meeting in secret.

even when hiurzen did find out, wat could he do, it would be too late

1. Danzo may have done extreme things, but it was for the protection of the village.
