Throughout the his time in the present he implied that he'd be changing history by being there. He said this to Goku when he met him, and also told Goku not to mention who he is the Bulma and Vegeta because he might end up not being born. So this means his future could be altered. So after defeating all the Androids, including Cell, why didn't his future change when he returned home? All the Z Fighteres survived, but when he returned Android 17 and 18 were still terrorizing people. Why didn't his timeline change? Everyone should be alive. Maybe I'm missing something.

When he went back in time, he went to a separate universe's past, not his own. He was able to alter the future for that universe successfully.

When he went back to the future, he returned to the universe he originally came from.

Multiverses.

This makes sense, but he said he'd end up never being born. Was he referring to "I" as present trunks instead of himself. That would make more sense..

You'd have to give me more context than that, I don't remember it all that well.
