Why did Tobirama made Sarutobi The Third Hokage?

This latest chapter made me wonder about this after reading it. Wouldn't Danzo make a better choice to carry out Tobirama's Will in protecting the village at all cost rather than Hiruzen?

Danzo's mindset= Tobirama's mindset concerning the village

Hiruzen's mindset = Hashirama's mindset concerning the village

I've thought about this before. I think Tobirama saw his brother in Hiruzen, you know like his love for others and selfless sacrifice. Tobirama was "twisted" (for lack of a better word) by his heritage and up-bringing. He probably realized there needed to be more people like him to stop the constant war.

Back then, Danzo was just a quite coward, whereas Hiruzen was confident and strong. Looking at Danzo's fight with Sasuke, it's clear without Izanagi, he's not even top 30. The guy didn't even have Sharingan back then.

I guess that's true but still... Danzo is kinda like a mini Tobirama

True Danzo's mindset was closer to Tobirama's but maybe others had input into choosing Hiruzen as a successor. It happened on the battlefield but its possible Tobirama thought it over in advance with his advisors on who would succeed him should he die in combat.

But overall, Hiruzen was just a more rounded choice. He was fearless unlike Danzo. His leadership skills probably were better

yes i thought about this before danzo is so similar to the 2 hokage but i think that danzo failed the test and hiruzen fit more couse he's stronger has the will of fire not like danzo which i believe is abit on the dark side.

i just think he realized that hiruzen was a better candidate than danzo. i mean look at how shady danzo went to protect the leaf, you wouldnt want someone like that as the leader.

I thought about that too, that he saw Hashirama in Hiruzen and thought "Maybe you were right brother". before he went to die fighting the kumo ninjas

Maybe because Danzo was kind of p*ssy just before he elected the new Hokage, while Hiruzen was willing to sacrifice himself.
