Why did they bury superman? (BvS spoilers)

So I watched batman vs superman and can't stop wondering, why did they bury superman?

I know they thought he was dead, but he was basically dead in space. His body looked all cracked and broken, but the sun healed him in minutes.

So why didn't they drift him out into space? It's as good as a funeral and it might fix him. Instead, they put him in a box and bury him in the ground, where the sun can't reach him?

A better question would be why didn't they simply let Superman take Doomsday out of the orbit? I mean, Superman can come back, Doomsday can't. :sdo:
