Why did the scars of edo-tensei vanished when Madara released edo-tensei?

Madara is basically a zombie with unlimited chakra and an undying body.

Madara trolled Kabuto. he simply knows and understands edo tensei better, but what that means exactly is still unclear. he is not bound by edo tensei anymore, but kishi hasn't explained what that means practically.
