Why did such powerful missing nin join akatsuki?

Obviously Tobi was very adept at manipulating shinobi into working for him. He obviously convinced Pein into believing in his version of controlling the world and concept of peace through pain. I can understand Itachi needed some place to be since the uchiha massacre and assuming Tobi helped him, he obliged by following him, but the thing is nobody knew who was running the organization really and Tobi/madara had never met the other shinobi before. They knew nothing about Pein either.

Only Pein, Konan, Tobi, Zetsu, and itachi actually had any real knowledge and motivation in Akatsuki. Oro might have had his reasons.

For all the world, I cannot understand the motivations of other members. I cannot imagine why Hidan, Kisame, Sasori, Deidara, and Kukuzu would join the organization even if it promised them protection and money, since they could have had them on their own. Why would they simply catch tailed beasts at such risk for the organization with themselves having no control over them? Kukuzu was intrested in money, but he could have more efficiently have been hunting down bounties without the help of Akatsuki.

the only ppl who know the true leader of akatsuki is nagato konan orochimaru zetsu and itachi, the rest think nagato its as the leader,

the rest join for various reason, just like deidara who join because he want to fight powerful opponent, kakuzu for money.

They were all S-rank criminal ninjas. They were outcasts. They were not welocme in their own country / village. They were mostly after power / money etc.
Exceptions are:Itachi and Nagato & Konan.

They are powerful. Otherwise they won't survive as villains.

Tobi founded Akatsuki and influenced Nagato into being a leader.

Zetsu has ties with Tobi.

Tobi was manipulating the Mizukage and became friends with Kisame so he joined.

Kakazu was betrayed by his village and joined so he could make money.

Hidan was tired of his village's peaceful ways.

konan and Nagato have a history.

Sasori and Deidara fled their villages.

Itachi joined so he could monitor Tobi and their activities in case they plotted against Konoha.

Oro possibley joined for a powerful body.

Yeah, they actually showed Deidara's recruitment. He didn't want to join at first, but agreed contingent upon losing to Itachi, which he thought impossible as his art was superior. Naturally, Itachi caught him in a genjutsu, which is why he developed that mechanical left eye to train his left eye against genjutsu and eventually used it against Sasuke.

kakuzu isn't the guy that wold wonder alone. he is more of an organization type. (becuase he chases after money). that's probably his reason.

sasori might've thought one day akatsuki would become strong enough to dominate the world and joined with them.

deidara lost a bet xd

kisame was tobi's old buddy from kirigakure that's why he is in. (he didn't know that tobi was with them until itachi died but he probably entered the akatsuki under his orders while tobi was posing as mizukage)

orochimaru thought that he could gain a lot of knowledge/new techniques if he were to join akatsuki
