Why did Shikamaru allow Sarada and Chocho to leave the Leaf in Gaiden?

We know they were going to chase after Naruto, but Shikamaru had to know Naruto was going to be moving fast (as he was pressed for time) and that unaccompanied Academy students (not even Genin) faced danger leaving the village.

What was Shika thinking?

Maybe because his friend's daughter would be very troublesome to handle so he let them go.

The Shinobi world is at peace. It's not like in the past where they got attacked as soon as they leave the village, think back to when team 7 first left the village not even few minutes out and they got attacked by hidden mist ninjas

Cause he knew Naruto was OP and that he would protect them regardless of how far away he was. He quickly used SM and realized that they were coming.

A strategy genius like Shikamaru knew that Naruto will sense them and he also knew that Sarada would meet her father. Any danger is a part of ninja life and he also gave the opportunity to the girls to face danger and became stronger. And that happened.

They were attacked by Shin in about 10 minutes.

Thought only Naruto and Sasuke knew about that?

Naruto had to tell Shikamaru why he was leaving and who he was planning to meet. Even Hinata knew Naruto was leaving the village.

This is true, then my reason switches to he know Naruto and Sasuke are out there so there is nothing to worry about.

Gaiden was the worst piece of fiction written that I have read in my 25 years.

Yeah, when I read that chapter I thought he had a case of Plot Induced Stupidity as well.

It was the first time in years that there was any danger and they knew Naruto was going out to take care of it (thus following Naruto would lead to finding an enemy) and he let two pre-teen girls go just like that. lol

It is questionable if he really would've been able to catch Sarada and ChoCho without seriously injuring them. It would've been more trouble than it is saving them, Sarada wasn't going to go peacefully, and she's no pushover. He'd have had to hurt them, and that wouldn't have sit well with Sasuke or Chouji.
