I think it was Orochimaru own choice to saved them and he chose to do that because of Tsunade, I would bet money if Tsunade wasn't the Hokage, most likely Orochimaru wouldn't have even bother saving them

because he didn't revive the Gokage. He just helped a little, they were still alive. It would of just taken longer with Katsuya alone.


And Sasuke didn't send him, he left on his own.
