Why did people want Tobi to be Izuna or Kagami?

They had little to no screentime and we barely knew anything about the personalities or situations. All we know of Izuna is that he was considered one of the strongest Uchiha and gave madara his eyes, and kagami..... absolutely nothing about him! Obito was the best candidate because he actually had a connection to the living (Kakashi and Gai's generation and personality wise naruto) so why did people want it to be them?

i agree with you on not knowing anything about izuna or kagami, so i don't understand why people wanted them to be tobi when they knew nothing about them (why did they even like them in the first place) and would add nothing interesting to the story in my opinion.
the only person i would have wanted tobi to be is the SO6P older son (uchiha origin), that would have been awesome. imagine him coming back (with his awesome power) and try to take over the world (prove his father wrong) .... to have his revenge.

I wanted it to be Madara or Izuna, reason is because I thought Madara was badass it turns out he wasn't and Obito was kinda disappointed about that, also wanted Izuna simply because 2 uchiha brothers vs the world is badass

maybe bro but wasn't that supposed to be sasuke (specially when they have their final fight), a lot of people keep saying that but doesn't it seem like obito will turn good at the end and sacrifice him self for the hero's (after all he sees himself in naruto, that could be an indication that he is questioning his side). so i think after he said that about naruto and showed that he doesn't really like madara, he will some how (maybe naruto talk no jutsu) change to good (again) or madara will show his true colors (evil and simply wants to rule).
