Why did Obito give Sasuke Itachi's eyes?

Incase Nagato betrayed him Sasuke was goin to become his spare, in unlocking the Rinnegan and reviving Madara

On the surface it seems like he gave the eyes just to keep Sasuke's trust and that may be true, but I also think it was legit - there was no real plan from giving him the eyes...

Because as Itachi's brother, the eyes were technically Sasuke's to inherit, not Obito's. Despite how crazy and manipulative Obito may be, I think he respected that.
