Today's fillers remind me of a controversial subject. Why did he destroy the uchiha clan? Didn't he hate the hidden leaf village? He could well have let the uchiha destroy the village.

he wanted the uchihas be decimated as they are the only threat and only ones who can undo his infinit tsukuyomi...they all have the potential to control a bijuu. also maybe to let out some frustration towards the world, which he hated?

because that time, we are supposed to know that madara's still madara. so both the manga and the anime (fillers) wanted to make it look like that. like its really madara. madara once was dissapointed and angry of uchiha cause they chose to stay at konoha instead of leaving with him

1. He wanted to seem like he was Madara, and Madara didn't like the Uchiha because they chose Hashirama/Tobiramam over him.
2. Obito himself did not like the Uchiha, because when he was a child they viewed him as an outcast, because he was not elite.
3. Having a clan that has the potential to be very adept with genjutsu around isn't going to help the Moon's Eye Plan
4. He had a frustrating life, so maybe he wanted to take it out on a few people ;)
5. He wanted their sharingan. He has already used Izanagi twice in this series (Itachi's amaterasu activation & Konan's trap) and lost eyes. He wanted all the spares he could get.

^These are pretty much the only reasons.

He might have seen them as a potential threat in the future when he wanted to initiate the I.T plan. Also, he was playing the role of Madara then and acting as if he had a grudge against the Uchiha. Lastly, it's possible the potential civil war leading to a world war would have caused Obito to change his planning w/ the Bijuus.

Not to mention he was a outcast amongst the Uchihas before his "death" in the war. He was the black sheep, even Naruto knew that he was alone like Naruto was.

I have suspected for a while that those with the sharingan/ms have the potential to see through and break the infinite tsukuyomi, because let's face it's, it's essentially sharingan genjutsu on a massive scale. So maybe the uchihas could threaten his plan due to that.

You call that sir, a plot hole.

We call this, sir, an idiot.

Obito needed to achieve his goal. He probably just needed spare eyes, and a sharingan can break Genjutsu as well.

Madara didn't like the clan, so Obito pretended to be Madara and helped Itachi kill them off. Also he was able to take their eyes.

Good post. What about the bold? Is it an assumption or was it in the manga?

First off, he was most likely not anyone interesting to the Uchiha clan, with no visual prowess. Just like his quote in the episode, who would have any need for a child without Sharingan?

Also, he was already conducting his plans at this time (trying to get a fight started) so what would be the reason for keeping the Uchiha alive if it would mean a possible chance to nurture hatred? Thanks to his deal with Itachi, he basically perpetuated a chain of events that would bring Sasuke to him, end Danzo, and start a war.

The rest if true, but the bold is more of an assumption. I just assumed that because teen Kakashi stated several times that it was a shame for Obito to be an Uchiha, when he is so unskilled and that the Uchiha was an elite clan. I just thought that maybe the Uchiha thought the same. Also, we know that Obito was an orphan and that he held Rin in high regard, considering that she was one of the few people that was courteous to him. If he had close relationships with any of the Uchiha, I doubt he would have participated in the massacre, also Rin's death wouldn't have affected him as much. I just don't think he cared about the clan.
