Why did Naruto lose to sasuke in part 1?

well i wouldnt say outclassed. naruto brought his A game. but sasuke pulled it off with max difficulty you atleast gotta say. but sasuke was better end of story

but on a different note would you say they were both at least at jonin levels during that fight? i saw a jonin level fight. would you agree or disagree.

The only time Sasuke was at max was during the final clash of Rasengan Vs Chidori.

Here's how the battle went

Round 1 - CM1 Sasuke>Base Naruto - Naruto was literally having flashbacks of how awesome Sasuke is while Sasuke was knocking him around (chapter 228) - Chidori through Naruto's body all with relative ease.

Round 2 - Kyuubi Naruto>2 Tomoe Sharingan Sasuke

Round 3 - 3 Tomoe Sharingan Sasuke>Kyuubi Naruto - Naruto ends up unable to move with his head underwater thinking Sasuke won - Kyuubi saves him again/powers him up.

Round 4 - One Tail Naruto with the Kyuubi's assistance (Kyuubi literally attacked Sasuke with his chakra arm)>3 Tomoe Sharingan Sasuke.

Round 5 - CM2 Sasuke=One Tail Kyuubi Naruto

Battle level - Power wise - Chunin/Jounin i think

Skillwise - Sasuke Chunin - Naruto Genin

During the exams a proctor said Sasuke was on Chunin level,while another said Naruto was on Genin level.

I will forgo the comparison of their ninja techniques and skill, as I believe that in that respect they were relatively even. Rather, this fight was one of convictions, and strengths of said convictions. Allow me to explain.

Sasuke told Naruto that he was someone that understood the pain of being alone, but that was the extent of it. Sasuke knew the pain of, loss, the pain of loneliness, and the pain of hatred. These are the things that strengthened his convictions. Naruto would only gain the pain of loss when Jiraiya died, and the pain of hatred when he battled Pain. It was only after these two feelings were added to his character that he was truly Sasuke's "equal."

Returning to their first battle at the valley of the end, Sasuke had more concrete convictions, or reasons for NEEDING to defeat Naruto and get to Orochimaru (for power) whereas Naruto was only there to bring his friend back. Without being able to truly understand Sasuke yet, from a narrative aspect Naruto would have been incapable of defeating Sasuke. This is symbolically reflected in their attacks. Sasuke was able to "aim for Naruto's heart" because he had no hesitation concerning in completing his ambition, whereas Naruto was only able to "aim for Sasuke's forehead protector" because he did not yet have the same level of conviction.

It was only in their final battle, where Naruto was able to "aim for the heart" and attack Sasuke with his full power, represented by his two strongest techniques (which were initially created for the sake of gaining the strength to bring Sasuke back. Finally with matched emotional drive (loss, loneliness, and hate) were they able to stand as true equals. During the their first fight, Naruto had not yet grown enough emotionally to win their fight.

Why do people keep mentioning Kyuubi chakra in a negative way...when Sasuke was using Orochimaru's Sage mode chakra?

I believe a part of why Narutl lost was because he aimed his attack after the stalemate towards his headband, because Sasuke said he would not aim his hit there. While Sasuke sent his attack at his chest.

It was plot because when Naruto unleashed the demon chakra he was giving Sasuke the beating of his life. How did Sasuke escape all that beating with no broken bones.

Lol all this fighting for nothing. Its been stated by Kishimoto from the beginning and facts from the manga that Naruto and Sasuke have always been equal in strength. At the final valley sasuke was only a bit stronger because of uchiha feats and plots. Without plot and unlocking the 3rd tamoe it would've ended in a draw possibly. Also sasuke had the curse mark just as naruto had kurama. Meaning both had extra power ups that were given to them. Base sasuke with 2 tamoe (no curse mark) and naruto without using kyuubi would end in a draw bottom line. 3 tamoe would only give sasuke sharper advantage, but we all know that naruto never gives up and kishimoto would asspull as usual. Too many anime has proven that hardwork always beats talent in the end. Even real life experiences for me has taught me that as well.

Sasuke only stabbed Naruto in the heart because he was fighting in cm1 and sharingan against a base naruto. The extra bloodline traits are cheap added along with curse mark. Base naruto now as hokage could probably easily fight sasuke with 3 tamoe, obviously leading to sasuke using rinnegan and PS, thus leading to an all out Rikudou Sage Mode vs Perfect Susano slugfest

To conclude, in the end with all extra powerups and crap the two are both equal in power and skill as stated by Kishimoto himself in part 1, part 2, and now.
