Why did Naruto cheat on Boruto?

I'm currently watching episode 181 of the anime. In this episode Naruto fought against Boruto in the Ninja Academy using a scientific ninja tool

Why was Naruto fine with cheating, why was he fine with using a scientific ninja tool against Boruto although he was scolding Boruto for using one?

Yes Boruto was wrong for cheating in the Chunin exams but why does Naruto get the green card to do so?
Can someone please explain?
