Why did Madara give his eyes to Nagato?

I never understoond why Madara gave his eyes to Nagato, I mean what was the point of him dying? Couldn't Madara rely on Preta Path to keep young, just like how Nagato used Preta Path to heal himself and return his youth.

Nagato was not a old man.he was a young man but when we saw him in pain arc, he was low on chakra.on top of that nagato used rinne tensei which made his hair turn white.

After being resurrect by kabuto, nagato absorbed bee's chakra which made his hair turn red again.

Preta path can't heal his user it just absorbs chakra of the victim and its jutsus.


Lastly,madara implanted his eyes into nagato because nagato was an uzumaki with huge chakra pool and nagato had the potential to resurrect madara.

1. He couldn't use preta path to return his youth. Nagato did not restore his youth, he simply replenished his lost supply of chakra as an edo using it.

2. Madara knew about the sage and becoming the Juubi jin, but he could not collect the beasts himself in his weakened state. He needed someone else to gather the biju chakra all in one place for him. After that, he'd have Nagato revive him, even though that breaks the time limit rule of the jutsu, and take the Juubi's chakra for himself.

The gap in time you speak of isn't enough of a gap for an author to bother showing significant aging. Nagato died around 45, he still had his red hair. The chakra he absorbed during the war arc did not return him to 35, it kept him at 45 but restored his full strength as a 45 year old. His chakra and stamina came back, so he simply looked more youthful because he was withered before that.

Again, Madara simply needed a pawn to gather all the Biju for him. Once they were all gathered and the Juubi was revived, Madara planned to be revived than so he could become the Juubi jin.

Its never even explained HOW or WHO did the transplant. Also, he awakened the Rinnegan when his parents were killed by Leaf nin during the Third (second?) Shinobi World War. Odds are Zetsu was scouting for a candidate, and found an Uzumaki family in the Rain, given away by their red hair.

No, that is not what the OP is asking.

He's asking why did Madara bother to plan his resurrection when he could just return his youth with preta path? First off, he couldn't return his youth, so that was out of the question. More importantly, Madara bothered with the entire resurrection plan simply because he wanted to become the Juubi jin. He couldn't do that once he was bound to the tree, so he had to have someone else do it for him.

So he found and trusted Nagato with his eyes for the sole purpose of gathering the Biju and reviving the Juubi. At which point, Madara would be resurrected and take the Juubi, and his eyes, from Nagato.

Their was no other person with a large chakra reserve to activated the eyes at the time and Large chakra reserves would be needed to bring Madara back to life.
