Why did Kakashi kill Rin?

I read that manga when it happened and I just can't seem to grasp it all I can get I show obito awakened his eyes and made a slaughter house of those opposing ninja but how did kakashi end up killing her?

Maybe kakashi never killed rin but obito was under an illusion to make him believe that kakashi killed rin so that he will join madara's side.

I believe that Centipede's theory about Rin's death is close to the answer about why he killed her

Some possibilities..

It wasn't really Rin but a clone - I say this because Zetsu was quick to report what was happening... and we all know Madara and Zetsu didn't truly care about Rin or Kakashi.

There could of been some type of jutsu that blinded Kakashi's vision and he mistook Rin for the enemy.

Rin was a spy or betrayed her team for whatever reason. (Unlikely IMO)

Kakashi was given an order to do it for whatever reason and stuck to following the rules/regulations.
