I have been wondering this for a while now but I have never really thought of making a thread for it until now. Why did Jiraiyia never tell Naruto who his parents were, he must have known right from the start considering Minato was his student and I thought I read somewhere that Jiraiya was Naruto's godfather?

Its not like he never had a chance, he trained him for 3 years straight!

Fair point I suppose, but IMO Kishi should have covered it up some how and also when he saw Naruto go 4 tails and nearly kill him, that would have been a perfect chance to tell him it all and start trying to control Kurama??

The Third Hokage wanted to keep the Kyuubi a secret from Naruto and the Village. If some were to found out that Naruto was the Fourth Hokage's then all hell would have broke lose onto the Leaf Village. It was stated by the Fourth Hokage in the Pain Arc.

It was more epic for him to find out from Minato himself

Naruto already knew he had Kurama in him in part 1, he could have just told Naruto!

Naruto never really cared who his parents were. All he knew was he didn't have any.

Y'know.. Naruto never asked who his parents are. Don't ask, Don't tell.

Naruto didn't know about the Kyuubi until Mizuki told him in part 1. During that time, the Third Hokage had made it rule/law to not speak of the incident (Kyuubi attack). In still, if anyone knew Naruto was Minato's son, the enemies of Minato would have taken revenge on Naruto and the Leaf Village.

I know that, but I was asking why Jiraiya never told Naruto only, especially whilst they were training (break between part 1 &2), it would have made sense to tell him
