Why did Jiraiya code his final words about Pein?

As I was re watching the anime, this part got me so confused! What would it matter if this information had gotten in someone else's hands? All it did was waste time -_- . Was just wondering if someone had an explanation for this.

it was just a tip, and the enemy might have moved Nagato if they foundhis location

it was to help konoha know that the 6 "peins" weren't really there and not to waste time fighting them

tho ultimately it was completely useless since Naruto didn't even need/use the info

Well, for starters, Jiraiya's way seemed to take less time than writing the actual words. And by the looks of it, Fukasaku would have been shattered had it taken a second longer.

Secondly, if Pein didn't know what Jiraiya had figured out, or what information he managed to pass on, it would give Konoha the edge. [Which proved to be true] If Pein knew that the people of Konoha might figure out that the controller of the paths were hiding in the the shadow, he would have been far more cautious of his own body, and they most likely not have succeeded if he did. [As far as Jiraiya knew]

What really blows my mind is that Jiraiya had the first words of numerous pages throughout his book memorized.

Gotta love that guy.

To address the OT though, it was because he had to keep the extent of knowledge he had against Nagato/Pein from Nagato. It could have caused Nagato to change plans or make an entire new plan to capture Naruto.

Would that even matter? He would have captured Pa if he'd had the chance anyways. It wouldn't have mattered even if he'd had the actual words on his back.

Because if he thought it was useless info, like saying goodbye or something, he wouldn't need to keep him hostage.

You have a point but movies/shows/books should not be taken too seriously. Just know that with ninjas, they're suppose to be cautious. Using codes to pass messages to one another is common. Just don't try to use logic when nitpicking at a movie/show/book.

it has 2 messages from two different books

1 for konoha ("real one is not among them")

2 for naruto alone ("never give up")
