Why did Hashirama get Wood Release?

They never explained it right i remember when Kishi hinted that Naruto will get when he went KM and how his chakra affected the Zetsus and Yamato.

Didnt black Zetsu plant something on Hashirama as a kid to make em have it?

It was never hinted at all.

Zetsus reverted back to Mokuton because they reacted to Yang Kurama's chakra. You can't plant a naturally occurring Kekkei Genkai either. He got because he got it, that's it. Being Asura's transmigrant and being a Senju probably influenced that though.

The closest clue I have that is manga-related is that his powerful love of life with his Ashura/ Senju lineage created the ability to create life from plants. With this logic, it also makes sense as to why his healing abilities were so legendary. Also, we only see a manly Hashirama using mokuton, so maybe Naruto still has a chance to show case this in the last Naruto movie since he is still young.
