Why did Boruto get the mark

So technically Boruto defeated Momoshiki, but in all actuality it was Naruto who kind of beat Momoshiki, but hey scr#w logic Boruto needs a way to gain powers as overpowered and as broken as his father and Sasuke

He didn't get the mark because he killed Momoshiki. If that was the case, he would already have had the mark when Momo died.

It seems like Momoshiki wanted to give him the mark, although the explanation isn't really there. Most likely a setup for a future plot arc.

No it wasn't. It was Boruto. plain and simple. with help from his dad and mentor.

Boruto dealt the killing blow with his own attack (dissapearing rasengan)

It was boosted by Naruto but that's it.

That's like saying Orochimaru beat Naruto at Vote1 because he powered Sasuke's chidori with his curse mark senjutsu.
